Reimagining Nonprofit Governance

There is increasing interest in exploring new models of nonprofit governance that can better serve the needs of 21st Century organizations, equity-focused nonprofit organizations. Reimagining Nonprofit Governance is intended to take a step back, interrogate the current board structure that we use in this country, and to identify alternative models that better serve and reflect the needs of these organizations.

To this end, RSCF has supported the following report:

Reimagining Nonprofit Governance: How Did We Get Here? Where Might We Go Next?  written by Laura Chen on behalf of the Robert Sterling Clark Foundation

As we embark towards a new future of governance, we felt it was important to try and understand and codify the history of how we got here, the realities experienced by leaders in the sector today, and some of the mechanisms, pathways, and frameworks we can use to interrogate this system and imagine something new. This report was created thanks to the insights of a number of experts and leaders across the social sector and academia.
